Reebok ankle weights -are actually as simple a product as they sound, however they are also the greatest exercise-related invention since the elliptical trainer. And I really love the elliptical trainer!
If you are like me, chances are you never pictured yourself doing leg lifts or pull ups with a weighted pillow strapped to your ankles – and chances are, you have never tried it.
I was in exactly the same boat, and once I tried the Reebok Adjustable Ankle Weight Set I was an ankle weight convert (if such a thing actually exists).
I first put on the weights and was amazed at how comfortable they were. They were less like the proverbial ball and chain like I was picturing, and more like a soft but heavy cloud. So I went about my normal exercise routine and actually forgot that I was wearing them.
Reebok Ankle weights made my workout time shorter
I did find that my exercise routine actually went a lot quicker than usual, mainly from each rep being heavier and therefore doing more with each action.I started with the standard 2.5 lb weight set, and after about a week I added additional weights to bring it to 5 lbs each ankle.
I liked the fact that I could easily adjust the weights without having to buy a completely separate ankle weight set.
I don’t think I will go above 5 lbs per foot though, after all I am not trying to break any records or trek the Himalayas.
For me, 5 lbs were more than enough. The weights are actually mini sacks of sand so are easy to remove without causing any damage. The additional weights are added and removed through a zipper, and no amount of shaking my legs caused it to unzip (and believe me, my legs do some funny movements when I exercise).
I actually read a review from someone who had lost one of the weighted bags, and got a zip lock bag filled with sand and used it as an alternative. Genius!
I don’t use these on my wrists
Although many ankle weights can be used on the wrists, I found that these Reebok ones were designed in such a way that they did not sit comfortably above my hands. This makes sense, considering wrists and ankles are differently shaped, so I am fine with only using them on my ankles. Reebok do have a set of specially designed wrist weights so I think I will be getting some of them for myself soon.
Reebok are a respected name world wide in sports, and Reebok ankle weights are way more comfortable than I ever expected. I actually find myself keeping them on for a short time when my workout is finished. I find it to be a good cool down for my muscles.
Whilst it is not really recommended, I also walk around the house in them some days when I am not working out. Definitely not all day but, just for an hour or so. This just makes them more effective for me.
If you are looking for some 2.5 lb or 5 lb weights, then you cannot go past the Reebok adjustable ankle weights.
