We have been pleasantly surprised, and quite impressed with these ankle weights. To get the pun out of the way early, as the name suggests, the Stronger Ankle Weights for Women are built STRONG. The binding and stitching is certainly designed to last.
We looked at them because they are of a relatively lower weight. This is and ideal starting point in Ankle Weights For Women. Don’t be deceived, the 2lbs will make a noticeable difference to workouts, without being so heavy you won’t use them. They are also comfortable to wear.
These ankle weights are NOT adjustable, (which given the light weigh is understandable). You might need to upgrade to a higher weight set as strength increases. Initially though, if you need something to boost core exercises , without being too heavy, these could be just right for your needs.
They really add that extra load to the leg muscles. It is like walking and little kids clutching at your ankles, to use an analogy. They can be used on a variety of routines to add resistance to workouts, including lunges, squat kicks, and on leg lifts as well.
Why these Ankle weights for Women?
There are some good takeaways that we loved about the Stronger Ankle Weights for Women. Number one is the softness. Unlike the other cheap ankle weights we have seen in the past, these are fairly soft and comfortable when strapped into place. This is partly due to the fit, after all, they have been made for the ladies. The cuffs in these ankle weights have been soft-padded for comfort. That means you will be able to focus on the exercises, rather than the discomfort on your ankles. That also means you will be able to use them regularly in workout sessions, which is good for working on your form and glutes to the best of your ability.
It should only take a very short time for you to get used to these weights. After that you will be able to put them into use in a variety of exercises including my Pilates sessions.
If you are just starting out we would suggest that you take extra care if you are planning to use them on steppers. When you are comfortable you will be able to use them safely on all leg strengthening exercises. Unlike some of the other ankle weights that we have tried in the past, these do not have the hard plastic that can make weights quite uncomfortable!
The other thing we love about these STRONGER weights is the snug fit. They offer you a perfect grip and remain well positioned on your ankles. So, no more lost exercise time, or momentum, trying to readjust them after they moved out of place.
Just Starting out
We think these a a great solution if you are using Ankle Weights for the first time. Given their lighter weight and snug fit, they can be used by children easier than many others on the market. They will give an added resistance to your core workouts. After using them for a while you might want to step up to a set of heavier, adjustable ankle weights as your strength increases.
We also like that fact that they are soft and designed for comfort, with little rubbing or irritation.
